... because the bronze glow under the blue sky best expressed the idea that all the corporeal is singular and unique. But those statues unearthed the Renaissance, secular covered with black and green patina, and full of respect and nostalgia savored at length this historic impression. Since then our sense of the way that black sanctified and that green "remote", and today, that produces bronze printing on our ward, it is essential to the patina, as confirmation that maliciously art form that we are not interested per se same. What does it mean for us a dome, a bronze figure, without the patina that instead of immediate shine gives a tone of yesteryear and there? Have we come so far as to artificially produce the patina?
But the lifting of the mold to the category of an artistic medium with its own significance, holds an even deeper meaning. Did not the Greeks have considered that artificial production of the patina as a destruction of the artwork? The Greeks, for spiritual reasons, rejected the green of the distant space. But not only the color. The patina is a symbol of the transitory and, therefore, is in good relationship with the symbols of the clock and the burial. Shows the eagerness with which the Faustian soul grown ruins, evidence of the distant past.
