One day Simba was taken from us, Golden Retriever, male about 6 years, in status epilepticus. These patients have a seizure that continues, if not stopped quickly, often end in death. After an initial period, in which Simba was kept under deep sedation to calm the crisis, we began to slowly return to consciousness.
One morning, to our surprise, we found Angel, now free of the rooms of doctors, lying next to Simba and smelt. But the surprises do not end here.
the next few hours and then days, we noticed that Angelo begins to bark and cry just before each seizure of Simba (just checked, despite the many drugs that took). Li served as the living monitor, when it began to bark knew we had to run to Simba to inject the sedative. So Angelo, the waif paralyzed, before our disbelieving eyes, he became the guardian of Simba, the dog semi-unconscious.
After a few days, given our inability to help Simba, we decided to put an end to his agony. When we have come closer to inject the anesthetic, Angelo has set us with a look rather menacing. After a few attempts we succeeded in our sad and thankless task, and Simba has ceased to suffer. We do not know what went into the head of Angelo in those moments, but surely he understood that his friend was being taken away. With a decisive move has put his paw up to Simba, as do dogs get angry when you try to take away a bone. At that time a colleague of ours took the photo attached.
